Their mission is to promote interest in history, particularly that of the Beemster region.

Agricultural Museum Westerhem

Housed in the former farmhouse of the Westerhem estate, built in 1877. The estate was purchased by the Beemster Municipality in 1965, and the farmhouse and mansion were later transferred to the Historical Society. Following restoration, the Agricultural Museum opened in 2000.

The museum’s bell-jar farm features a unique pyramidal shape and a central haystack surrounded by living areas. The cow stable includes summer and winter sections, as well as a cheesemaking area and horse stable. The attic was used for hay storage, and the roof has interior thatch. A servant’s quarters with a coffin is also on display.
