Betje Wolff writes, in her attic room Kipperust and with an independent spirit. Her life and life in the Beemster are central to the Betje Wolff Museum.
Middenbeemster
The Betje Wolff Museum has been located in the old, former parsonage at Middenweg 178 in Middenbeemster since 1950. Betje (Elizabeth) Wolff-Bekker lived there from 1759 to 1777 with her husband, Reverend Adrianus Wolff, to whom she was married and who was thirty years older than her.
Period rooms from the Beemster
In the museum you can see her restored writing room with her own books and those of Aagje Deken in the cupboards. It is also a house with a number of period rooms from other centuries. The rooms are furnished in such a way that they give a good idea of how people used to live in the Beemster.
The extensive collection comes from the private property of residents of the Beemster, who wanted to preserve the history of the Beemster Polder.
Herb garden
Behind the house is a beautiful orchard garden, laid out in eighteenth-century style, with a herb and vegetable garden.
